An illustrated history in support of applications for listed building
consent and planning permission to refurbish this imposing stone
faced block of flats as an hotel. Built to designs of Frank Verity
for the Duke of Westminster in 1913. Falling property values and
a lack of tenants led to the demolition of the two 18th century
speculative houses, Somerset House and Camelford House, which had
previously stood on the site.

The earliest mention of a brewhouse on this site is in a Charterhouse
